Parents and educators demand to know Vermilion's plans for their children

EAST ROCKHILL TWP., Pa. - A chaotic school board meeting with a lengthy agenda is still underway in Bucks County.

It's not the first time the Pennridge School District has seen an hours-long meeting with a lot of fighting.

Tonight, most of the fighting centers around a curriculum firm that the school board hired.

At least 1,300 people oppose it.

And that's not all.

At least one board member said a policy set to be approved is illegal.

I've been to a lot of school board meetings as a reporter. This, by far, is the most chaotic.

Board members don't seem to agree on much.

But they've still moved ahead with a curriculum consulting firm that has dozens of people still speaking out.

The same company tried to get a contract with the Sarasota, FL school board, until a large protest by parents shut it down.

SARASOTA, Fla. — The Sarasota School Board has voted against getting into a contract with Vermillion Education, a firm that would have consulted with the board on a range of school issues.

Tuesday afternoon, dozens of protestors gathered outside the Sarasota County School Board meeting to push back against the proposed hiring of the controversial consulting firm. The protest bled into a passionate school board meeting with more than four hours of public comment.

Ultimately, the board voted 3-2 against the contract with Vermilion. The Vermilion Education partnership was proposed by conservative School Board Chair Bridget Ziegler.

Correct spelling is Christian Nationalist Hillsdale College.

The "News" article does not interview any of the parents or board members to explain their opposition. Neither does it explore the origin of the extremist consulting firm's contract.
Why would that be?
