PA-HD144: PA billionaire putting $638K into Bucks County state House race. Who is Jeff Yass
A political committee funded almost entirely by Pennsylvania’s wealthiest man has poured more than half a million dollars into a state House race in Bucks County.
The Commonwealth Leaders Fund has contributed over $638,485 to Friends of Dan McPhillips PA in in-kind donations of media buys in the 144th District, which includes about 48,296 voters in Ivyland, Warrington, Warminster and parts of New Britain, according to campaign finance filings available online by the Pennsylvania Department of State.
The fund is one of several political action committees associated with Jeffrey Yass, a Montgomery County billionaire who has gained notoriety in recent years for his political spending.
Incumbent Democrat Rep. Brian Munroe’s campaign has slammed his Republican challenger and Bucks County Recorder of Deeds McPhillips in ads for being “propped up by a shady billionaire” who wants to pass a constitutional amendment to ban abortions without any exceptions.
McPhillips has said on his campaign’s Facebook page that he has no direct connection with Yass.
