Charleston County seeks hundreds of election workers for upcoming election

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – With Election Day just 50 days away, the Charleston County Board of Voter Registration and Elections (BVRE) is urging residents to step up and serve as election workers for the fall election cycle.

As November 5th approaches, the county still needs hundreds of volunteers to ensure a smooth, efficient, and secure voting process at polling locations across Charleston County.

“This is an opportunity for citizens to play a vital role in one of the cornerstones of our democracy,” said Isaac Cramer, Executive Director of the Charleston County BVRE. “By stepping up as an election worker, you are not only serving your community, but you are also helping to protect the integrity of our electoral process. We need civically engaged community members to maintain the gold standard of service in our county.”

To serve as an election worker, volunteers must be registered voters in South Carolina or at least 16 years old. All workers must attend and complete mandatory training prior to Election Day and must commit to non-partisanship while upholding election integrity. The role also requires a full-day commitment to work at polling locations, from opening to closing.
