SC-HD12, SC-HD21: Polls to open in Greenville, Spartanburg counties for special election

Early voting wraps up on Dec. 19 and polls will be open on Dec. 23 so that voters can select candidates for South Carolina Senate District 12 and House District 21.

Following the resignation of former Sen. Roger Nutt due to health reasons, Lee Bright won a three-person Republican primary in November.

Known as a conservative firebrand, Bright previously served in the state senate. There is no Democrat on the ballot to oppose Bright.

Democrats, however, have made a late push to support Steve Evered, a retired government affairs director with Michelin, as a write-in candidate. He and a team of volunteers have recently been canvassing in the district.
