Judge denies preliminary injunction in Rep. Jeremy Durham investigation

Tennessee Attorney General Herbert Slatery can release the report from the investigation into embattled state Rep. Jeremy Durham, a Davidson County judge ruled late Tuesday afternoon.

Davidson County Chancellor Russell Perkins’ decision to deny Durham's request for an injunction sets in motion what could be the culmination of Slatery’s monthslong investigation into Durham and his behavior.

"Although the court recognizes that Rep. Durham may suffer harm, the court concludes that it is in the public interest for the attorney general and the ad hoc committee to finish their work and for the results of their work to be made available to the public, after applicable House rules and procedures have been followed," Perkins wrote in his final order.

The order came roughly two hours and 45 minutes after the conclusion of a hearing Tuesday afternoon, during which attorneys for Durham, R-Franklin, and Slatery argued about the merits of an injunction.

Durham has told The Tennessean he can’t remember sending such messages and denies sexually harassing anyone.
