WCAX poll shows Scott ahead in race for governor

Phil Scott is leading Sue Minter in the race for governor, according to a poll released this week by WCAX.

Princeton, New Jersey-based Braun Research found the Republican nominee for governor with a 7-point lead over Minter, the Democratic nominee. Braun Research polled 603 likely Vermont voters, with 47 percent saying they would vote for Scott and 40 percent saying they would vote for Minter.

The poll was conducted over Thursday, Oct. 20, Friday, Oct 21, and Saturday, Oct 22.

WCAX's results offer a contrast to a poll released by VPR last week that showed Minter and Scott locked in a statistical tie.

This is disappointing, first we have two Republican governors with the surname of Walker (Alaska and Wisconsin), now we have the chance of having two Republican governors with the surname of Scott (Florida and Vermont). It's like there is limited pool of surnames for old Republican men.

I went to UVM.

He is pro choice and pro marriage equality.

Not many people know that when Bernie Sanders was elected to the Senate for the first time they also re-lected their Republican governor by about the same margin. So a 1/3 of Vermonters wanted a socialist in the Senate and a Republican running their state house.
