UVA Health has new restrictions on visitors

To me it seems weeks too late.

Visitors will not be permitted at UVA Health inpatient units and the Transitional Care Hospital beginning at 9 p.m. tonight. Starting Jan. 3, visitors will also be restricted at the Emergency Department, outpatient clinics, and outpatient procedures.

Sentara Martha Jefferson (the other Charlottesville hospital) has updated their visitor policies as well yesterday

The main change I note is:

At Sentara, the safety of our team members and patients is our highest priority.

No visitors are allowed in our Emergency Departments except:

Patients with altered mental status, developmental delays or behavioral health concerns may have 1 visitor.
Minors under the age of 18 may have 1 visitor, either a parent or a guardian.
Patients who are critically ill or critically injured may have 1 visitor.
