A tech company based in Loudoun County, Virginia, has been fined by the Department of Justice after it advertised that it was seeking white candidates for an open job posting.
The job posting by Ashburn-based Arthur Grand Technologies Inc. was published in March 2023 and said that the company was only looking for U.S. Born Citizens [white] who are local within 60 miles from Dallas, TX [Dont share with candidates], according to a Justice Department news release.
The Civil Rights Divisions Immigrant and Employee Rights Section opened an investigation in May 2023 and determined that Arthur Grand discriminated based on citizenship status and national origin after a recruiter working for Arthur Grands subsidiary in India posted the advertisement on the job website Indeed.
Following that posting, the advertisement was widely circulated online. An investigation by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs determined that the company advertised for an open business analyst position in Dallas through a public online hiring site.

(47,049 posts)clearly haven't experienced the dark side of DC area IT contracting at all. Federal government clients who write into the contract that you must have one US citizen, get loudly and verbally disgusted to see the US born citizen these companies hired looks too brown for their comfort.
Many companies do this. This company got caught because they were stupid enough to put it in writing.
For DUers who want to argue with a US born brown American on this:
Sure the job is in Dallas, TX but it's a DC area contracting company.
The company is brown minority owned. They want a white face since everyone else is brown. The founder and CEO is a South Indian Muslim named Sheik Rahmathullah.
Many DC area federal contracting firms put applicants in 3 buckets: non-white US citizens, White US citizens, and non-US citizens of any race.
Any type of contracting firm will find ways to lie and discriminate, but the federal contractors like to use citizenship and "security pre-screening" to ask blatantly illegal questions knowing that whites will defend the practice for non-existent "security reasons". It's racist reasons. There is no security clearance pre-screening reason for them to ask where my grandparents immigrated from, and then assign me to non-clearance federal contracts with hundreds of people from that place. They just wanted someone who can translate that dialect of English to American English. Idiots.
Brown people and immigrants can be just as racist or more so than MAGA idiots.
