Top Seattle restaurants team up to support immigrant rights with weekend fundraiser
From James Beard-winners to pop-ups, more than 100 Seattle restaurants and bars are participating in a weekend fundraiser for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.
They include some of the biggest names in Seattle's food scene, with every Tom Douglas, Renee Erickson and Kristi Brown restaurant participating. Many other restaurants, bakeries and bars taking part are frequently mentioned on local "best of" lists, including Spinasse, Sophon, Ben's Bread, Saint Bread, Copine, Mamnoon, Terra Plata and Atoma.
"Seattle wouldnt be what it is without the generations of immigrants who have built their lives, businesses, and communities here, Toasted Bagels & Coffee co-founder Murat Akyuz said in a news release. This fundraiser is a reflection of that over 150 small businesses coming together to stand with those who may not always have a voice."
Between Friday and Sunday, they will donate a percentage of their sales to NWIRP or a similar nonprofit of their choice. See the full list of participating restaurants.
