Longtime Seattle city director steps down to join Sound Transit
Longtime city of Seattle director Marshall Foster, whose influence expanded to touch major projects during his nearly 20-year tenure, has decided to leave his post as head of Seattle Center to take a new leadership role at Sound Transit.
Seattle Center announced the move Friday, saying Foster will continue supporting the region at "a pivotal moment for major mobility and infrastructure investment." Foster will remain at Seattle Center through Jan. 16. Deputy Director Diamatris Winston will assume the role of acting director following Fosters departure.
Foster's new title at Sound Transit remains unclear. The agency was not immediately available to comment Monday.
In the announcement, Foster said he was enthusiastic about Mayor-elect Katie Wilsons vision for "a connected, culturally vibrant, community-focused city," citing her "strong support for Seattle Centers mission" in their initial discussions and "excitement for its future." He added he is proud of what Seattle Center has accomplished, including the under-construction $140 million Memorial Stadium redevelopment.
