Claudia Balducci to seek a fourth term on the King County Council, emphasizing affordability, safety, and robust mass tr
transit
King County Councilmember Claudia Balducci announced last week that she is running for reelection to represent the 6th District, seeking another term at a moment when the county faces mounting fiscal pressures, infrastructure challenges and persistent concerns about affordability and public safety.
Balducci, who represents much of urbanized East King County, told the Northwest Progressive Institute that her campaign will focus on affordability, transportation, community safety, environmental protection, and overall quality of life.
I want to continue to work on the things that I think are still the most important issues for my constituents, Balducci said. Those include affordability and housing, but also just the general cost of life, transportation, community safety, water quality and environmental preservation, and quality of life issues: education, jobs, arts and culture, the things that knit us together as a community.
Affordability is the thread connecting her agenda. While housing remains central, Balducci frames the idea more broadly as the cumulative cost of living in one of the nations fastest growing regions. Transportation costs, utility rates and access to services all factor into whether families can remain in their communities.
