Starbucks laying off 300 workers, closes regional support offices
Starbucks Corp. (NYSE: SBUX) revealed in a regulatory filing Friday that it will be laying off 300 support roles and shuttering four regional support offices across the country.
The affected workers are a mix of remote and in-office workers, including some in Seattle, according to a company representative. No coffeehouse or retail employees are affected.
Starbucks will close regional support offices in Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta and Burbank, California. The company will consolidate its support offices into three locations: its Seattle headquarters, New York office and its newly acquired Nashville, Tennessee, office.
The combined severance costs and consolidation of its office space will result in $400 million of restructuring charges. The company will record $280 million of non-cash charges due to impairment of long-lived assets and $120 million in cash charges tied to job cuts.
