State Dem Party raises $9.5M in preelection period, state GOP $2.6M

The state Dem Party raised $9.5 million in the preelection period, while its GOP counterpart pulled in $2.6 million.

The latest hauls pushed the Dem take from Jan. 1 to Oct. 21 to $29.4 million, compared to the $7.4 million the state GOP raised.

As has been the case on past reports, large donors and out-of-state contributions helped fuel the Dem financial edge.

The Dem Party reported more than $8.3 million in donations from those living outside of Wisconsin. That includes $2.4 million from LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman. In all, a dozen people gave the part at least $250,000, all of them from outside Wisconsin.
