Dane County executive race Q&A: Melissa Agard and Stephen Ratzlaff
While Dane County voters just elected a new county executive last fall, the seat is back on their ballots April 1 to determine a full, four-year term. Stephen Ratzlaff, a salesman from DeForest, is running against current Dane County Executive Melissa Agard.
Agard won a November special election to finish out the remaining months of former Dane County Executive Joe Parisi’s term after he retired in May. The county executive signs or vetoes measures passed by the Dane County Board of Supervisors, manages county government agencies, oversees a $900 million budget, and appoints county agency leaders. The county executive receives $163,674 in annual salary.
The Cap Times asked each candidate to complete a questionnaire sharing their views on housing, county spending, and balancing the needs of rural and urban communities.
