Oconto Common Council candidates talk reasons for running, top issues before election
Oconto voters in November backed expanding the Common Council from six seats to eight, so instead of the two seats originally set to be filled this spring, now voters will select four candidates.
Seven people earned a spot on the ballot, but the race ended up shrinking even prior to votes being cast.
Mike Feldt notified Mayor Cliff Martin on March 12 that he is withdrawing as a candidate. If Feldt finishes among the top four vote-getters, then Martin and the Council would have to consider who will fill the seat themselves. That person would serve until the next scheduled election, which in this case is next spring, then the public will decide who will serve out the rest of the unexpired term.
The remaining candidates are incumbent Bob LeBreck and newcomers Ron Daul, Casey Sowle, Wibble Sowle, Kim Bronikowski and Violet McFadden Hornick.
