Update: People can no longer buy, sell, or transfer handguns within Canada and they cannot bring newly acquired handguns into the country.

(2,037 posts)list of gun deaths per capita, and even though they are only 10% or so compared to US, they are still much higher than countries such as the UK and Japan, whose rates are only 10% of Canada's, i.e. 1% of ours.
Whatever, good for them. Hard to imagine anymore what it would truly be like to live in a 'civilized' country/world.

(54,696 posts)is one of the reasons our gun deaths are higher than they should be given the laws we have. Smuggling is big and US hand guns find their way here all too often. This additional safety restriction will help but won't completely address the issue and that won't happen unless the US adopts sensible gun safety laws as well, imo.

(54,696 posts)issue by instituting common sense gun safety laws which, from the polls, the vast majority of Americans support, that would help both countries. We've done our part, the rest is up to you guys.
A country is doing the right thing. If only the US had learned many years ago that guns are manufactured for only one reason: to kill.
