An Amber Alert remains in place a day after a father was found dead and his two-year-old daughter abducted from a small town near the Alberta-B.C. border.
Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette, 2, was taken from a residence in Blairmore, Alta., at around 3:30 a.m. Monday, according to Crowsnest RCMP.
An Amber Alert was issued in Alberta Monday afternoon for Dunbar-Blanchette and later extended to B.C., Saskatchewan, and south of the border in Montana. It remains in effect.
Dunbar-Blanchette is described as a two-year-old Caucasian girl with a small build, brown eyes and light brown hair with bangs.
The girls father, Terry Blanchette, 27, was found dead at the same residence around 11:15 a.m. after police were alerted to the body by a family member, according to RCMP Supt. Tony Hamori.
Hamori told reporters Monday evening that Blanchettes death is being treated as a homicide.

(54,698 posts)It is horrifying. At first, before the news of the father's murder, that maybe it was a custody issue but they confirmed she was not with her mother. The police have so little information to go on but I have hope the large antenna and flag description regarding the white van will help them find her and bring her back safe.

(20,582 posts)I thought I heard one of the reporters at the press conference state the mother had learned of it from social media?
Poor little Hailey .... she must be terrified.
So scared of what will happen to her, knowing her father was murdered.
