Toronto police say Bruce McArthur's newly identified victims do not fit the profile of the two men first connected to the alleged serial killer, and that additional killings may have taken place outside Toronto's LGBT community.

Police announced Monday that McArthur had been charged with three more counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Majeed Kayhan, Soroush Mahmudi and Dean Lisowick, bringing the total to five.

But Kayhan, 58, is the only victim connected to Project Houston, the force's investigation into three men who disappeared from Toronto's Gay Village between 2010 and 2012. He was reported missing in October 2012.

Mahmudi and Lisowick do not fit the profile of the victims established by Project Houston or McArthur's other alleged victims, Andrew Kinsman and Selim Esen.
