We went to the same high school. He was a few years behind me (grade 10 while I was in OAC).

It's a little disappointing that the photos are not that embarrassing, he looks basically the same, honestly.

3. They want to be but the vast majority of Canadians are left or centre left.

There are 5 parties. So if the Conservatives go GOP Canadians flock to the left or centre left party that can win. Which so far has meant the Liberals. The conservatives need to come off as harmless to get some centre votes. Now there is another conservative party. They are on the extreme end so I don't think they will take votes away from conservatives because conservatives are ahead in the polls and conservatives themselves will break for the conservative party that can win. Provincial Ontario conservative government of Doug Ford just backtracked on spending cuts everywhere. They have sunk in the polls after being in power for a year. It is going to be a bumpy ride for all parties. If conservatives get corrupt or manipulative like the GOP or Trump, Canadians will reject them. So right now their whole campaign is we are benign we are benign we are benign. But they have tried in the past to start fox news North (it failed) and breighbart North (it sunk after it supported nuts in charlottesville). Basically Canadians have not been hugely brainwashed and they look south and are aghast.

Any party whose main message is we are benign is not benign.

The only question is will the conservatives convince people they are not a Trump like threat enough that a few centrists vote for them and the left doesn't get too scared and break for the Liberal party that is ahead. Liberals have to hammer them on their we are benign we are benign we are benign mantra.
