I've been following this closely. If the RCMP don't get them, polar bears likely could in the area they were in. I keep faithfully checking the news for the eventual breaking story of them being caught. For a big country, it's hard to hide for long with their faces all over the news.
I'm still worried about the Texas fugitive wanted for murder who crossed into Manitoba illegally last month... the media was wondering about his potential connection to this before the announcement that the teens are suspects. We now have 3 people wanted for murder running around central Canada.

(269 posts)Tragic loss of lives... including these kids and what's going to happen to them if they're convicted. Did you see the latest interview with Al Schmegelsky? He's telling reporters things like, "They're going to go out in a blaze of glory. Trust me on this." It's just.. a totally irresponsible thing to say as a parent in this situation. Blaze of glory? Is he trying to idolize them? I'd be out there publicly pleading for my child to do what's right, or to go to police if they're innocent, but scared. You don't make public statements that might encourage them to do something to themselves.

(123,460 posts)and replay that. The father has not said the right thing from the beginning of when it looked like the kids were guilty. He likely has some issues on top of the trauma he is going through now. Good news organizations don't capitalize on that in such a dangerous and somber time just because it is shocking.

(3,382 posts)Ive heard the conditions in that area would be hard to survive. The suspects are allegedly survivalists but are from the island which has much different conditions. Namely the island isnt mostly bogs and biting swarming insects.
