A group of oil and gas supporters is planning a counter-rally when Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg shows up at the Alberta legislature in Edmonton on Friday.

Glen Carritt, who organized the United We Roll convoy that travelled to Ottawa in February, said a similar convoy will start in Red Deer, Alta., on Friday morning and make its way to Edmonton.

Carritt said the trucks are expected to arrive at the legislature at noon MT, when a climate rally is to begin with Thunberg, 16, who founded the Fridays For Future climate strikes that have galvanized young people around the world.

He said Albertans in the oil and gas sector are frustrated with celebrities visiting the province and telling them how to run their business.

A bad look nationally: a bunch of grown men in dirty trucks honking at a young person worried about the climate. Scheer and the Conservatives have no climate plan but Trudeau does.

1. Okay,the latest stories out

on Bloomberg and the Guardian European additions are saying,the Alberta Gas and Oil industry has totally collapsed. They are shutting in wells at a alarming rate do to no one buying their Oil because of its Bitumus nature. It just costs to much to refine when North Dakota Crude is a Gravy choice.

2. They have Chinook winds and many are investing in wind farms there including

Warren Buffet. Alberta is blessed with many resources. I worry a bit that climate change might change the winds. I hope not.

putting 200million US into a Wind Farm outside Medicine Hat. Several hundred Towers when complete. This is Berkie's Second major Wind Farm project this year. The other one is in Wyoming tying into Rocky Mountain Powers Grid System. A calm day in and around Medicine Hat is a twenty mile and hour breeze.

4. Yes they need more than strong seasonal winds to get a wind farm going.

Chinooks blow for on average 35 days. So 35 days of premium winds. Don't know if that is what attracted BH to southern alberta but you have to admit they are blessed.

prevailing winds in that area. The new blade design for Windmills allow the blades to function at five mph .

7. The Chinook winds can blow at 75 miles per hour. And sometimes higher.

And come 30 to 35 days a year.

8. My sister has a house near a windfarm. She said the blades don't create wind if the gusts

are too strong. Counterintuitive, but i've taken her word for it.
