A major police operation is underway at one of the Ubisoft buildings on St-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal's Mile End neighbourhood.
Images from the scene show several heavily armed Montreal police officers in the area. Images also show dozens of people on the roof of the red-brick building, and the door opening onto the roof barricaded from the outside with large objects.

(1,432 posts)Montreal police sources have confirmed that a 911 call placed to police that resulted in a major police operation at the Mile End Ubisoft offices was a hoax.
Dozens of police officers were outside one of the buildings used by the tech company at the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard and St-Viateur Street on Friday afternoon, some of them heavily armed. Ambulances were also at the scene.
Specialized tactical officers evacuated the building Friday afternoon. No one was injured, and no threat was detected, police say. They say the operation began in response to a 911 call earlier Friday afternoon.
Dozens of people on the roof of the red-brick building could be seen early in the afternoon, and the door opening onto the roof was barricaded from the outside with large objects.

"The specifics of the hoax remain unclear.
At one point dozens of people were seen after apparently barricading themselves on the roof of the red-brick building. They had blocked the door opening onto the roof with large objects. ""
OKAAAAAAAAAAAAY - I opened the image in another tab/window (much larger)
They are all dressed for outside, so they most likely didn't leave in a hurry . . .
Are they part of the "hoax" or just out for a smoke break?
"apparently barricading themselves on the roof"
I don't see anything indicating that . . .
weird . . .
