When 24 carat comedy meets current affairs. Laughed until I sh*t myself.
To assist our American friends, and those too young to know, I recommend you google 'Two Ronnies Four Candles' for context.

(14,805 posts)Not being excited about blue passports apparently makes you an "elitist" according to the front page of the Daily Fail!
Any disparaging term the 'Wail' would give me will be worn as a badge of honour.
Have a good Boxing Day!

(2,560 posts)40 (50?) years later, it's still funny.
I only found out that the old passports were, in fact, blue. I would have sworn they were black. I had a couple of them (yeah, I'm an old fart) and I never once thought of the colour blue. Unfortunately, I no longer have them, so I can't check.

(327 posts)Always a big fan of anything Ronnie Barker did, I consider him a true comic genius.
I was a young kid when four candles was first aired (showing my age). I've been working outside of UK since my twenties (on and off) my passports have always been burgundy. Before then I only needed the long departed 1 year passport to go to Spain on holiday. I can't believe how many people are rejoicing the colour at the expense of the ability to travel/work Europe. Strange folk?
Have a good Boxing Day.
