May's deal will get voted down both by hardline leavers who don't like the 'backstop' arrangement designed to prevent a hard customs border with Ireland, and by remainers, and the Labour leadership who have said they will exit the EU, but go for a customs union and single market deal which will involve some form of free movement of labour.
No-one can decide if a new referendum would help; if there was one, should it have just 2 options (in which case, which 2), or 3, with some form of 2nd preference voting.
It's a mess.

We are entering a most dangerous moment in history that pales the cold war era.

My other question would be, what if Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland joined to be a United country? Still in the EU, no hard borders but distinctly different.. Would that work?

(102,642 posts)The unionists (ie for keeping NI part of the UK) are still a majority, and adamant that it will remain that way. They'd literally start a civil war if they were forced to join the Republic - the "loyalist" terrorists were very violent, and that was when their side was in charge.
