Democratic Donors Abandon Kyrsten Sinema Just Like She Did the Democratic Party
That spells trouble for the bisexual former Democrat, now independent, if she seeks reelection to the U.S. Senate. But are we surprised?

U.S. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, the first out bisexual in the chamber, switched from being a Democrat to an independent late last year, and that may hurt her if she decides to run for reelection in 2024.
Sinema hasnt formally announced that shell seek reelection, but she has been raising campaign funds. However, Democratic U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego has announced hes running for the Senate seat, and hes outraised Sinema among Democratic donors, Politico reports.
Sinema, who ran as a progressive, has disappointed many of her former supporters by being cozy with corporate interests and by resisting efforts to lift the filibuster, which stands as a block to much progressive legislation. So Gallego is running as a more liberal alternative.
So far, Gallego has raised two-and-a-half times as much from Sinemas 2018 major donors as Sinema herself has, according to Politico. He has received $691,000 from those donors, with Sinema bringing in $277,000. Gallego has also outraised Sinema among those who donated to Arizonas other U.S. senator, Democrat Mark Kelly, in his campaign last year.
Sinema hasnt made up the difference with Republican or independent donors. ...

(12,936 posts)I can't think of any reason (particularly at this point) why any Democratic donor would be remotely interested ...
Sinema's switch to 'I' really can't be interpreted in any other way ... Pure sabotage.

(405 posts)She knows she's not getting re-elected. We hoped she'd be the Democrat she proclaimed herself to be. (Turned out that it was just a temp job to qualify for a lucrative lobbyist job.) Now it's just a matter of transferring the funds into her Cayman Island bank accounts on whether she'll help the Repugs win in AZ. No way nut job Kari Lake is going to win without some serious Repug manipulations and trickery.

(8,463 posts)with her. Her and Manchin prevented so many things we couldve had. Filibuster free, pre K, maternity leave, etc. the two of them blocked it. She can go to hell for all I care.

(5,490 posts)Her bisexuality is referred to twice in identifying her. The story isn't even about that, and they don't identify the preferences of anyone else mentioned in the article.

(2,292 posts)it's from the Advocate.
That's an LGBTQ+ publication, and a peek at the homepage shows their focus.
I have to imagine she's a huge disappointment to them.

(56,736 posts)He is definitely one of us, and is on board with all of our main positions.
He and Mark would make a great team of Democratic Senators from Arizona, something we haven't had in many decades!
