Need some phone and computer advice

Mrs FSogol takes tons and tons of pictures with her phone (Samsung Galaxy 7 on Verizon). She maxed out the phone storage and extra card, she's filled up the cloud storage that Verizon gives us.

She's on a computer all day at work and won't use a computer at home.

Is there a solution or something that can store her photos for easy viewing? What should I use to back up all those photos?

Any suggestions? Recommendations?

1. You can access her cloud from your home computer,

download her pics to that comp, then clear her phone AND her cloud and she can then start all over again.

Also pick up an SD card reader to retrieve those pics faster by just swapping cards as they fill up.

I was a slow adopter for smart phones* and that's put me behind the curve.

* When I have a smart phone, people expect me to work 24/7. With my old flip phone, it was, I'll look at those files first thing Monday morning.

if you access her cloud account you can download all her pics from the cloud to your home computer and then clear her cloud and she can start all over. Verizon was constantly sending me messages to increase my bill and add more cloud space, this process eliminates the need for more space...and a larger bill.

9. Another thing you might try

is offloading the pictures from the phone to a computer and then resizing them for the web. The images on the phone are probably going to have a resolution several times higher than the native resolution of most screens, so there probably isn't much need to have them stored online in full resolution, and storing them online sized more appropriately for the resolution of the average screen will save a considerable amount of storage space in the cloud.

Obviously, you would probably want to create new files resized for the web, rather than resizing and overwriting the originals. That way you will still have available the high resolution versions from which to do any prints or such, as well as the smaller versions for the cloud.

11. Look into Google photos

I personally do not use the service. But, I hear awesome things about it.

Not only will they store your photos for free, they will categorize them using AI and facial recognition.

They will figure out who is in each photo (probably by face) and then sort them accordingly.

I am not kidding. This info comes from the immensely reputably Leo Laporte of Tech.tv, who loves their stuff.

It's good if you love Google. But, your photos become fodder for their research.

12. Google photos is the answer

and should already be available on the phone.

Once you set it up it will store all photos taken to google's cloud storage for free if you accept the down sampling they do to reduce the photo size. In my experience unless you are doing professional photography the free version of the photo is perfectly acceptable.

You can choose to have it save in original format but it will over time require you to purchase more storage.

Either way once you do it it is pretty much set it and forget it. All photos taken will go automatically to google storage where you can access them from any device by signing into your google account.

Once the photos have gone to the cloud you can safely clear the phone storage with no worries of losing any thing.

Google photos is amazing BTW. You can search your photos in many many ways, You can for example search for trees and google will pull all pics that have trees in them. Or dogs and get all your photos with dogs in them. It is truly amazing. Not perfect but damn good and again amazing.

It is seriously the best and easiest way to store your photos safely with very little work on your end to make it happen.

Another little bonus you get with it is google will often put some fancy editing into your photos automatically. Creating some great collages or even stringing video together from a weekend trip to make a nice video with background music you can share with others.

They really have made it an amazing service and for your issues it would solve your problems completely with very little effort on your part.
