*UPDATE, not good* : "Auto-Refresh in Edge" - solution(?) here!1

Last edited Thu Jan 4, 2018, 07:45 PM - Edit history (2)

Date of UPDATE/ON EDIT 01-04-17: Unfortunately, the "solution" lasted these few days until just now, when the Auto-Refresh did itself without a by-your-leave. It had left me blessedly alone these few days. I checked the "Disable" under Security in Internet Options, and it had not changed from "Disable" so I have no idea. DUers have previously brought up the possibility of malware, but I don't want to rock the boat with this new laptop installing stuff.

Date of O.P. 12-30-17: My previous problem has a NAME: "Auto-Refresh in Edge" - solution(?) here!1

Will cross post to my previous thread, where I couldn't even name the problem.

Microsoft edge refreshes and keeps on opening by itself!!

When Ever i open up windows edge and try to search up something, the tab wil refresh it self. And when i try to close microsoft edge, it will just open up by itself. I dont understand how this happens and is really frustrating when trying to do work. I had this problem before i upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7 as well. When ever i close internet explorer, safari or google chrome, the internet windows just kept on popping up by themselves several times, over and over again. Most of the time i would have had to end task. I tried malwarebytes, norton and have even reset the computer before upgrading to windows 10. Not to mention i have also reset 2-3 times when i had windows 10. Although now only one internet tab pop's up it's still quite a pain. Can someone please help?

In reply to JPBaldwin's post on November 24, 2015:
Hi ,Try this . Right click on the white start button bottom left. click control panel.. change view to large icons...
click on internet options...when box comes up  click security on top...click custom level. (bout 3 quarters down)...now scroll down bout halfway and you will see  ALLOW META REFREASH.  change it from enabled to disable..this should fix your problem.. if it still refreahses. you may need to redo steps and in box you will have.internet,local intranet ,trusted sites and restricted sites. just disable meta refreash for all of them even restricted sites..good luck and if ya need more help just leave a reply and ill get back with ya soon as I can

How to Disable Web Page Auto Refresh for Various Browsers

Imagine you are reading a web page or are playing a flsh game, then suddenly the page refreshes itself and you have to do your reading (or play the game) from the start again. Annoying, isn’t it? Some sites update their content fre gently, so the webmaster add the auto-refresh function to ensure their readers get the most updated content. Some just add it to increase their ad impression. From the end-user point of view, I find this to be very disruptive, a complete waste of time and consume unnecessary bandwitdth. ….

It is understandable that some websites update frequently, so the auto-refresh function will enable its readers to get the latest content. ....
(Article proceeds with instructions for disabling Auto-Refresh in the different browsers.)

3. SQL injection attack

SQL injection is a code injection technique, used to attack data-driven applications, in which nefarious SQL statements are inserted into an entry field for execution (e.g. to dump the database contents to the attacker).[1] SQL injection must exploit a security vulnerability in an application's software, for example, when user input is either incorrectly filtered for string literal escape characters embedded in SQL statements or user input is not strongly typed and unexpectedly executed. SQL injection is mostly known as an attack vector for websites but can be used to attack any type of SQL database.

SQL injection attacks allow attackers to spoof identity, tamper with existing data, cause repudiation issues such as voiding transactions or changing balances, allow the complete disclosure of all data on the system, destroy the data or make it otherwise unavailable, and become administrators of the database server.

In a 2012 study, it was observed that the average web application received 4 attack campaigns per month, and retailers received twice as many attacks as other industries.

If you know something about my "solution" (that it's not a solution or that it's going to make things worse), I will sincerely appreciate your letting me know.

01-05-18. After about 20 minutes of logging-on. I checked whether the previous "solution" (Disabling Auto-Refresh) had changed, and it hasn't. These are the steps:

* Control Panel
* Network & Internet
* Internet Options
* Security
* Custom Level
* (Disable: ) Meta Refresh

Am going to post whenever this keeps happening until somebody here tells me to knock it off. Or, hopefully, figures out what's wrong. Thanks in advance.

There's another problem, but I'll open a separate thread on that: The DU formatting is totally gone. The table-like DU format. Now it's all list-like, without any lines/ no table.
