Related: About this forumDoes anyone have a new 27" iMac?
Is it powerful?
What are the toughest apps you run on it?

(68,644 posts)That's probably the toughest app.
But it's at the office and it'll be awhile before I can provide useful feedback.

(68,472 posts). . . . . that MountIn Lion will no longer support anything up to the model immediately before mine. Mine still works fine and doesn't seem at all slow, by clearly the handwriting is on the wall. I'm not sure I need another big workstation honker like this. I suspect an iMac could meet my needs.
I also want to upgrade to a Retina display when they come out, although the display on the top 27" iMac is pretty damned close. I also need to run dual monitors and a 27" Apple Cinema display next to the iMac would be perfect for me.
Again, it just goes back to how the new iMac compares, speed wise, to my Mac Pro.

On a 27" screen I imagine it would just be crazy good!

(21,691 posts)Crap, I dunno. PhotoShop CS 5.1 loads in mere seconds now as does iMovie; what used to take hours to load/edit/reformat/save now takes minutes.
I'm not on it now, but I do have the fastest processor available + max memory.

Are you loading apps from a solid state drive?
