The mini I have never touched, only seen. But the iPad regular? Big screen, easy to expand text for those with vision issues, extremely easy to use. I strongly recommend the big guy.

But as noted above, the bigger screen has its own advantage.

Don't think I would go with the mini must because of the larger screen. I also have an iPod if carrying and size is a problem.

.....I asked the same questions when pondering which to buy. I needed the IPad or Mini to replace some functions on my IPhone which are simply too small and difficult to read, causing eye strain. I decided on the IPad because size of print can be enlarged. The Mini is hardly larger than a Phone. However, I do wish the IPad was not so heavy. I've really enjoyed reading books in bed on my IPad, but I have to have a pillow prop for it to rest on; cannot hold in hands very long without cramping. Also, I seldom take it in my bag because it makes it so heavy.

Also, I seldom surf the internet with the IPad, still use my computer for that, because you cannot navigate very well between sites, at least I haven't discovered how. It's best to get the App for various sites that you look at often.

Guess I haven't been very helpful. Wish I could have both! If you want to take your Mini with you a lot, I would get that one. .
