2. Where do they hide the four internal hard drives my MacPro has?

I think that is a VERY cool machine.

12. There are no hard drives in the ashtray.

Instead, it has flash "drives", like a Macbook Air. You'll notice that the amount of secondary storage in standard configurations is far less than that of a typical hard drive. That's because flash is expensive. On the plus side, flash is fast compared to magnetic storage.

The ashtray also lacks a CD/DVD drive. If you want that, you nave to buy an external drive. Other things that don't come in the box are a keyboard and mouse. All those extras add a few hundred dollars to the basic cost of the ashtray.

I think I'll keep my old desktop, with its big, heavy tower and 1000 gigabytes of secondary storage.

I like the fact that it is upgradable to an extent. I'm not a fan of the new mbp with the internals soldered in place.

5. Feel the same way about MBP

Its an obvious play at trying to monopolize the repair market.

Instead of getting another Macbook, I went with a Thinkpad and put Qubes OS on it. I still keep the old Macbook around for a couple apps that I don't have in Qubes yet.

7. I just bought a non-retina MacBook Pro in November.

It has a build date of July 2013 but it's still considered an old model. Lol. The main reason I went with it was due to the soldering issue with the new models. Once my college money comes in, I'll be picking up a Thunderbolt monitor to go with it. It's just to hard to program on Xcode with a 13 inch screen.

It's incredible design and engineering. Just gorgeous. Too bad I can get along fine with an iMac these days.
