Apples Quick Start? Cant find anything about it online, chatted with Apple and they dont know what the difference is.
Obvs dont want to lose any functionality or data. Trust Apple far more but no idea if Id be losing something or causing a problem by not doing the transfer via straight talk. Anyone know?

(14,317 posts)I bought an iPad and it said to put the iPhone next to it and all the settings got transferred.
But I do advise making a backup just before doing anything, however you want to do that, iCloud backup or to a computer.
Why? because stuff happens.
I ran the 15.6.1 upgrade and it partly bricked my phone. I couldn't reset it from Control Panel.
So, I figured how to reset it in iTunes. Then recovered data from my most recent backup to the mac.
I regularly copy all photos and downloads to the computer because it's easier to manage them there. And the screen is (ahem) vastly larger.

If you are using iTunes, please have the latest version of it. I have had new phones refuse to read the older phone's backups because "This phone won't work with your version of iTunes".
and P.S. 15.6.1 works ok. The upgrade must have been corrupted somehow. Just my luck.
Stuff happens.
Good luck.

(18,188 posts)Like Autos or anything else become obsolete. I have had 3 IPADS. You can still use the older ones, but the new have many new features, but like cars going electric there will be changes.
Even hearing aids will change drastically the first of the year because that OTC junk is hurting the big companies profits.

(14,317 posts)The "wizard" might be a phone to phone cable and ST's software. And that's just a guess. Or just some of ST's software to transfer settings wirelessly.
With the cloud backup, you're in good shape. Apple's setup "wizard" works wirelessly to transfer settings.

(18,188 posts)You pay for it.
If you buy from Apple, they set it up for you! I paid for my phone, signed with Spectrum,$14 a month ,but keep it fo when I am out.
I much prefer my IPAD. And, if you wear hearing aids they are connected to your phone and IPAD.
WHEN I first got mine I was listening to a video. My IPAD phone rang. Trying toturn off the video, my landline started ringing.. I got the vopideo off the phone had quit. Meanwhile my Ring doorbell rang! Now, I know what to do!
Oh, the joys of technology!

(14,317 posts)Since I had cellular internet (YUCK) for a long time, I got behind in updates, so some things work in that magic manner (taking phone calls on an iPad? Goodness) and others don't. I will catch up over time. Of course, some devices are dead-ended, like the iPad ONE.
But I got it to read books and music scores, and it still does that. Without distraction, mind you.
I don't go for the doorbells, thermostats and such. They spy too much for my taste, and you can find some privacy-centric articles that I have posted. But that's just me.
With the wired internet, the familiar Verizon "three bars, two bars, No Service" doesn't bother me when I am at home. And I live on a ridge, where I can see three giant cell tower farms in my line of sight.
The second miracle of modern technology is how an ideal situation like that can be so crappy.
