When I trade my iPhone for a new one with Verizon

And let’s say I have them send it to my house, is the cellular service of that new phone already activated when I get it and already has a new Sim card in it so all I have to do is the quick start to transfer the old phone information to the new phone?

Same would apply for instance if I bought it through Costco and didn’t get it at the store does it come activated to the company I have cell service rep in this case Verizon?

Does the same apply to T-Mobile or AT&T if you know?

CLARIFICATION

Not talking about transferring info from one phone to the other, talking about the phone being ACTIVATED to the cell carrier, is that done before it is shipped?

From her boy friend. I advised her to copy all her contacts to her sim card. There are free utilities you can download from store for thus. Then
I told her to simply remove sim card from old iPhone and install it in new iPhone. Voila, her new iPhone became fully operational.

have to have cell reception at your house. You can’t do it through WiFi. I learned this the hard way. Even tech support was stumped as to why I couldn’t complete the set up. Everything transfers from your contact list, etc. You can also go to a Verizon store and have them do it. It used to cost $35.00. I don’t know what it might be now.

cell carrier, and that is the part I am wondering about.

The transfer of info is easy now using quick start....
