and have a question. How do I move my minimize, maximize, close buttons to the left side of the screen?

Thanks in advance

I'd like to add: How do I change the default icons from green to something else?

Off to bed for now, I'll check back in the morning.

ETA: Go to configuration editor under system tools then click on apps then marco then general then button layout then right click and click on edit key then move the colon to the right

Don't know how much they kept but under Gnome 2, under Appearance Preferences you can choose from a variety of themes, colors, etc. as well as create your own.

so gnome2 and metacity window decorator. still a clunky arrangement imo having such distinct desktop and window managers. i like xfce4's solution best interpret gnome configs into xfwm lingo and ask if gnome/kde loops should be initiated on startup. qt worked fine once i sorted out font madness on my macbook running arch.
