In 2012, Giffords will either run for re-election to the US House in the new AZ-2cd or run for the US Senate against Jeff Flake-R. Giffords would have won either of those elections. If Giffords stayed in the US House, she would have faced a rematch in 2014 against Martha McSally-R. Giffords would have defeated McSally in 2014. Giffords would then have won re-election to the US House in 2016 and then run for the US Senate in 2018(OPEN Flake-R) and won the 2018 AZ US Senate Race.
If Giffords were still serving in the US Senate, would her husband been allowed to run for the other AZ US Senate seat?

If Mark Kelly-D not ran for the US Senate in 2020(special election). Ruben Gallego-D or Kirsten Sinema-D would have ran for the US Senate in 2020(McCain’s old US Senate seat.) Either of them would have won and then be faced re-election in 2022. Either of them would win in 2022.
