'Oh my God, it is Obama': Alaska mom, baby meet ex-president

An Alaska mother is cherishing cellphone photos she snapped of her wide-eyed 6-month-old baby in the arms of former President Barack Obama.

Jolene Jackinsky was at Anchorage International Airport on Monday looking for an airline when she ended up in a waiting area for private flights where a man she thought looked like Obama was sitting.

"As I got closer, I thought: Oh my God, it is Obama," she recalled Friday from Newhalen, a small Alaska village where she's vacationing.

Obama then walked up to her and asked "Who is this pretty girl?"

I often felt rather sorry for these guys, all fathers themselves, but as you say. And you can't just grab a baby for an opportunistic photo prop and expect them to be happy. They have to be charmed like anyone else.

Little Miss Flint was totally charmed here, and not.

Of course, I imagine what she may have heard adults saying about both could have had something to do with this.

have unique sense that tells when danger is near. Looks like this beautiful child knows evil when she sees it. As for the parents, what were they thinking letting this predator near their child.

I try to keep my swoons out of GD because we are accused by some of being worshipers, but since this is BOG.... Yes indeed, he is looking mighty fine. I didn't think he could get any more handsome, but he has. Probably due to finally being able to relax and get the weight of the world off his shoulders.

is a balm to cute babies! I agree that he looks very relaxed and happy. And after the beatings that both Obama and Hillary suffered in his presidency/her candidacy, I have no idea why both families don't just move to Canada (or France, etc.) for some peace and quiet. I would. My mantra would be "they made their bed, now they get to lie in it."

Remind me a bit of seeing John Kerry standing by himself in my local supermarket aisle. I approached and asked him if people ever tell him he looks like John Kerry. He replied, "All the time."
It was a positive ID when I heard his voice: "OMG, you ARE John Kerry."

I like John Kerry, too. Remember those days, when we had intelligent, REAL people as leaders? When we did not have to cringe when a cabinet member was overseas, representing us. The "olden" days, it seems like now.

And I agree. Our current "leaders" have at least 40 IQ points less than President Obama and his administration and less than a tenth of their moral character.

He chatted up my son and talked with me about children and parenting. He was obviously a father who was totally involved in parenting his kids, and I really enjoyed our conversation.

Finally, though, I had to say out loud what I had been thinking ever since he sat down: "Do people always tell you that you look just like Tom Hayden?"

He laughed and said, "Only because I AM Tom Hayden."

He had just given a talk somewhere and was flying home. I had not considered that he might be the man himself, because despite being a political celebrity, he was sitting next to me in coach.

Of course his face was recognizable to me simply because I was very politically aware even back then. He was actually a bit surprised (and I think a bit pleased) that I recognized him, even though I assumed he was merely someone who LOOKED just like Tom Hayden.

meet 'n greet at the embassy with State Department staff during a stop over in Spain toward the end of his time in office. (My son is in the diplomatic corps and his wife, though not in the Foreign Service as he is, also is in the State Department.)

I treasure the pictures. However, my son, always the protective husband and father, made sure the baby's face and his wife's face are not visible in the pictures--sigh.

I know how it is. I cannot resist a baby or toddler, either!
