Curt Schilling decides against running for Congress in Arizona

UPDATED: OCTOBER 16, 2019 AT 7:56 AM
PHOENIX Curt Schilling has decided against running for Congress in Arizona in 2020, the former Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher told 98.7 FM Arizona Sports Stations John Gambadoro on Tuesday.
The things that have been said and done to my wife and kids since I announced interest in running are not worth it, said Schilling, an outspoken conservative.
Schilling, who won a World Series ring with the Diamondbacks in 2001, floated the idea of a congressional run during an interview with Armed American Radio in August.
Im considering going back to Arizona and running for a congressional seat, one of the blue ones, Schilling, who was the World Series co-MVP along with Randy Johnson when the Diamondbacks won their only world championship, he said at the time. He expressed an interest in the District 1 seat occupied by Democrat Tom OHalleran.
The speculation drew the attention of President Donald Trump, who tweeted his approval.
