Joe Biden
Related: About this forumIt'll be tough for Biden
He's way too gentlemanly to run against Hillary. She'd take a lot of pot shots ("he didn't want to take out "Bin Laden" , and he'd just stick to issues, mainly progressive ones dear to the elderly, young, military, and keeping peace. And he doesn't have the heart to hurt his beloved Democratic Party with in-fighting...some do.
But if he should get the nomination, I see him as a real contender. Loves people, they love him, he's progressive, Jill would be great, family is first-rate.
Although I like Warren, Dean, and a few others, Biden is always going to be one of my most favorites.

(136,606 posts)What you say about Hillary is correct, she'd take pot shots, but Joe is smart, and more experienced than she is.
She'll have her money folks behind (and ahead of and around) her, which is very problematic.
Joe would be dynamite against a repug, absolutely 'killer.'

(10,044 posts)She screwed Dean, and I think her people are now working on Joe. They've been pointing out the smallest things he's done and blows everything out of proportion. She has a gigantic support group who don't seem to realize that we have president now and treat him and Biden as invisible obstacles yet to be removed...

(5 posts)Hillary can be a meanie.

(10,044 posts)about her supporters. They in no way want to get involved and help Obama in any operations he's involved in because they want to come out fresh, clean, and not blamable or tied to any failures he may have (I think none, but that's me).
For right now, it's enough to put her name in DU wherever they can, but they'll be out in force when she's finally declared, and on every program that'll give them time. They've been told in one way or another that they will work for her when she's in office. Rendell admitted he wanted an office job - the Oval Office I think he said....
Doesn't sound like party loyalty to me. That's where Biden is miles ahead of her. He is loyal ("has my back," is what Obama said, which makes you wonder what the hell is going on in and around the White House).

This train-riding, goes-home-every-night-politician understands people, makes mistakes, just like other people, and that's why I love him.
And he's very intelligent, knows the lay of the land, the Congress, Courts, and has compassion. Without compassion, a man can't govern successfully.

(15,720 posts)at least where I live (inland empire which tends to be conservative). My fantasy football ticket would be Biden-Booker, because I think two white guys are just not gonna hack on a Dem ticket. Ditto Hillary-anyone. I think she's a great lady and love her supporters to pieces, but she doesn't have a snowball's chance, alas.
p.s. happy hollies fadedrose!

(10,044 posts)and asked where his money thingy was for his campaign. Told him I couldn't spare much, but if he didn't run, please don't give my bucks to HC.
One thing he never had, and never needed, because his personality did not require it, combativeness. He reeks of kindness, sincerety and good will to everyone, poor, sick and even the rich.
I saw him watching Obama during the SOTU and he listened to every word, some of which he was familiar with the topic, and some he seemed he was learning for the first time. No sign of competiveness or jealousy, just admiration and respect. Yes, he does have the President's back...
He needs to have courage that was not required by his very nature to be successful, and watching Obama take risky plunges that seem to work out okay or better has been the experience he's needed. He's had a master to follow in taking risks.
I don't think I'm good enough to be one of his supporters, but I was, am and will be as far as I can see.
Get in there Joe and start making money. Lots of gray-haired old ladies like me love to see you treating us like queens and all children like their grandad..
