• Investors will look to gain further insight into how inflation and rising rates are impacting the economy.

• This week's durable goods and manufacturing reports will give the market a close look at how certain sectors are performing.

Inflation is soaring, the Federal Reserve is raising rates in response and gas prices are at record highs, pressuring consumer spending. The impact on the broader economy will be on display this week as the durable goods report for May is due. This tracks orders, shipments and inventories of durable goods at the nation’s manufacturers. A decrease in orders would signal consumers and businesses are holding back spending. An increase means they are taking inflation in stride. Also scheduled for release this week are the S&P Global Manufacturing, Composite, and Services PMIs for June. Both measure manufacturing and services productivity. Rounding out the economic news for the week are the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Home Price Index, consumer confidence reading for June, weekly jobless claims and mortgage applications.
