Quote for the Day:
No single American has become more profoundly associated with the Armenian Genocide than Henry Morgenthau, who was appointed by the newly elected President Woodrow Wilson in 1913 as U.S. ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. Looking back at this period of his life in 1918, two years after leaving his post, Henry Morgenthau wrote, "It was certainly an amazing fate that landed me in this great headquarters of intrigue at the very moment when the plans of the Kaiser for controlling Turkey, which he had carefully planned for a quarter of a century, were about to achieve their final success." Given Morgenthau's moral fiber and personal education, it is not surprising that he worked as he did with courage and persistence to try to save the Armenians from annihilation.
