This thread contains opinions and observations. Individuals may post their experiences, inferences and opinions on this thread. However, it should not be construed as advice. It is unethical (and probably illegal) for financial recommendations to be given here.

although I only monitor closely enough the DOW to notice that it is behind a lot of the time.
We had quite a thread here on that maybe 3-4 years ago.
Its behind at the kshitij.com site too as of the time of this post (6:21 PM ET June 7)

Still not updated at 10:50 PM ET
3:50 AM - found it updated
All that was in the Courier's pouch with the template was a post-it note with "Bye!" written on it.
Yes, I've been looking at the site and it's somewhat complicated in how it updates. There's also choices for what time frames, candles, and if one wants the technical lines on it.
It looks as if Tansy had settled on the weekly charts so that she didn't have to refresh them every day. Also, the charts themselves update periodically throughout the week. I haven't determined what "time zone" they operate in yet either. Combined with my browser cache, It's quite the spaghetti nest.

(11,463 posts)For the Dow (DJIA), it looks like the daily one. The daily one starts at 12-Dec-22
while the weekly one starts 28-Aug-20.

Sometime between 10:50 PM ET last night and 3:50 AM this morning they updated it.
Tansy has told me several times in the past that her interest in the economy is on the broader economy as a participant in the whole. Shes more than happy to leave the heavy analysis and deep dives to people like yourself.
The other things I am currently looking into is if there are other resources that could be added to the SMW template to make it more informative while not adding to the burden of maintaining it. Understandably, the infrastructure of DU poses some restrictions on what can be linked due to functional and security concerns. I have found that there are several financial sites that provide services for borrowers with attribution. So I am sifting through those as well.
The intent of the SMW has always been as a launching point for people to find other parts of DU and some of the wider Internet to discover facts and discussion of the economy. It is an art that I havent quite mastered yet to provide just enough candy to keep folks checking while still leaving them hungry to learn and participate more in something that has a profound effect on their daily lives.
