The appointment would give him vast power over the nation’s economic plans — and place him fifth in line for the presidency, potentially the highest governmental position ever held by a gay person.

A hedge-fund titan with a formidable professional pedigree, Mr. Bessent, 62, has been a quiet presence in New York’s social scene since the 1990s, when he worked for George Soros, the liberal megadonor and financier, eventually managing tens of billions of dollars in assets.

He's no economist either. He doesn't appear to be very intelligent either. He's a hedge fund manager who has no background in actual economics.

A key advisor to Trump on economic policy, Bessent donated about $3 million to Trump and other Republican causes this election cycle, calling Trump “very sophisticated on economic policy” compared to the “economic illiterate” Harris in an interview with Forbes last week.

So Trump who has no clue how Tariffs work is “very sophisticated on economic policy”, while Harris, whose economic proposals were favored by dozens of Nobel Prize winning economists is “economic illiterate” . It appears to me that the real economic illiterate is this pathetic douchebag.
