SOLIDARITY ALERT: šŸ“žSocial Security bill is in the Senateā—

Hi Steven,

Last week, we asked you to call your representative about two unfair parts of the Social Security lawā€”and a bill that would restore retirement fairness and full retirement benefits for millions of hardworking Americans.

That bill passed the House of Representatives and is now awaiting a vote in the Senate.

Can you make a call? If you called the House, you can call again to reach your senator and encourage them to vote for the Social Security Fairness Act. ā†’ https://go.aflcio.org/ssfa

Hereā€™s more about what this legislation would do. During Ronald Reaganā€™s administration, the government cut the hard-earned retirement benefits of millions of workers. Their Social Security checks were slashed if they took a second job after they retired; benefits were even reduced for their surviving spouse.

The bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act (S. 597) would restore fairness and increase many workersā€™ Social Security benefits.

Encourage your senator to work with leadership to get a floor vote on the Social Security Fairness Act before the end of the session. ā†’ https://go.aflcio.org/ssfa

This legislation can make a huge difference in the lives of millions of workers. Everyone deserves to retire with dignity.

Thank you for taking action.

In Solidarity,

Team AFL-CIO

Do you whether Chuck Schumer has put this legislation on the Senate Agenda yet ? The Senate goes on recess on Dec. 20, so it has to pass by then.
