(WASHINGTON) – The Teamsters Union commends Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Cory Booker (D-NJ) for introducing the Faster Labor Contracts Act, which would require employers to collectively bargain with newly organized workers within 10 days of voting to form their union. The legislation is co-sponsored by Sens. Gary Peters (D-MI), Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), and Jeff Merkley (D-OR).

“Greedy corporations will stop at nothing to keep workers from getting a fair first contract. Their playbook is simple: stall, delay, and drag out negotiations to deny workers from securing the wages and conditions they deserve,” said Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien. “Teamsters are proud to support the Faster Labor Contracts Act — real labor law reform that forces employers to bargain in good faith and holds them accountable when they don’t.”

The Faster Labor Contracts Act would amend the National Labor Relations Act to create a clear timetable to securing a first union contract.

1. What are the chances of this passing?

I hope it does. So many efforts of unionization are killed before it even fulfills all the multiple pre-requirements of a vote to occur within an impossible time of requirement.
Corporations love to move the goalpost with every attempt to get the required vote count for a vote to even happen.
And the voting? Many are rigged and gleefully, maliciously the votes are known to either disappear or appear without question or recounts.
