DHS union-busting attempt sends message in and out of government

The gutting of TSA’s agreement denies “the sanctity of contracts” and could lead to “real aggression” by private sector employers against their labor unions.

The Trump administration’s aggression against the federal workforce has reached a new level of intensity, with officials attempting to bust the union representing 47,000 airport screeners.

If successful, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem’s gutting of a contract with the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) could set the stage for similar attacks on other federal labor organizations and embolden private sector efforts to thwart union power.

Noem cited President Donald Trump’s executive orders for her action, demonstrating another example of his muscular attempt to expand his power to that befitting a “king,” as he has declared himself. He has already fired or placed on leave thousands of federal employees (including some the courts have ordered reinstated), shut some agencies without congressional approval and denigrated workers’ public service — in addition to other actions to diminish union power.

Then, don't work for them. If everyone in that department just up and quit, they would be in dire straits. If any business decides that they can just ignore their workers and demand that they be good little wage slaves or lese, give them 'or else'. Walk out en masse. Make sure the owners understand that there are only so many people in the US and they will run out of grunts soon enough.

WE have the power. We are the ones making them rich. We are the ones who are letting them behave in this manner. We have to stop them. That means not bending to them in any way. The simple fact is this: If we don't keep on doing the work, the rich people will learn that they are not rich without us. They will try anything to keep the status quo and we should be ready to not let them bully us into being less than human. Which will include not letting them control the narrative. They cannot do it without us.

We need to remind them of this. (We won't, thanks to decades of oligarch programming, but we need to.)
