1. I agree with all of that, but it is a dickens to teach.

Maybe it was my students.... but a lot of kids seem to be unable to follow written instructions. I would have to run around checking everyone's folds, for every blasted fold. It was exhausting and not fun.

2. A Navy wife, who had spent a great deal of time in Japan, taught me....

and she pushed me hard to make all the folds and creases correctly.

I love this skill and practice it often.

I sent it to my daughter who has studied education, and may home-school her son. Let's see how far they get!

4. One-on-one would be great! Your grandson will probably enjoy it.

I had huge classes and thought this would be a good activity because it involved thinking skills and not a lot of messy materials. I would try to do it in groups, putting a capable student "in charge" of the ones who were all thumbs! Everyone seemed to enjoy the jumping frog at least! LOL

I always had a "dream" of doing a thousand cranes, but I was daunted. I love doing it myself, though!
