Hundreds Of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vans To Flood The Streets (In Europe) - CleanTechnica

Renault is banking on hydrogen electric fuel cell vans to grab a foothold in Europe, where interest in fuel cell mobility is picking up.

Hundreds Of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vans To Flood The Streets

27 JAN 2024 | Tina Casey | CleanTechnica (Usually a H2 bashing site)

The debate over hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles rages on, and Renault Group just added some fuel to the fire. The auto maker’s Hyvia electric vehicle venture is kicking into high gear with an initial delivery of 50 hydrogen fuel cell vans to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region this year, towards a near-term goal of 400 light-duty and 80 heavy-duty fuel cell vehicles. The later-term goal is 1,000 vehicles in all, which leads to the question: Where’s the hydrogen?

Here’s The Hydrogen
The answer is easy. The hydrogen is already on its way. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is the host of the Zero Emission Valley project, which is billed as “the largest renewable hydrogen-driven mobility project in France.”

The project is supported by a public-private hydrogen infrastructure venture called Hympulsion, formed in 2019 under an agreement between the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional council, Michelin, and the leading energy firm ENGIE, with support from the Banque des Territoires and the Crédit Agricole and EU funding, too.

If you caught that thing about “renewable hydrogen,” that is a key point. The primary source of the global hydrogen supply is natural gas along with gasified coal, neither of which is renewable...more

Europe has MANDATED BY LAW hydrogen refueling stations every 200 Km on the new Ten T core network. Something that the US could do next week. But it won't.

Because right now the US doesn't want hydrogen vehicles. Europe and China do.

Hydrogen bashers will ignore this map. Notice the blue?

Really appreciate your open mind.

The next generations need it.

Many Americans actually object to hearing about hydrogen. After around 10 years I still cannot understand why. It's just tech - it either works or not.

And hydrogen works - that's not me saying it, it's someone who built a hydrogen house in 2006 - and according to Scientific American (not a site known for disinformation) hasn't paid a utility bill since then.

So called "renewable energy" is trivial, 15 EJ of energy on a planet consuming 632 EJ as of 2022, the last year for which we have data.

Electrolysis further degrades already thermodynamically degraded electricity, and even if so called "renewable energy" were a meaningful contributor to the world energy supply, which it isn't, using it to make hydrogen would drain any value toward further uselessness.

Now we have people here and elsewhere trying to greenwash fossil fuels by ignoring the fact that hydrogen is made from fossil fuels overwhelmingly. The coal dependent hellhole Germany has stopped making fertilizer - the main use for hydrogen - because they've been embarrassed out of funding Putin.

Still we have these endless series of ads here, day after day, idiotic cartoon after idiotic cartoon.

In a few weeks, not that the fossil fuel sales people and salesbots here or elsewhere give a rat's ass about the environment, we will see new records established at the Mauna Loa observatory for the concentration of the dangerous fossil fuel waste grams CO2/kWh over last year's record 424.64 ppm, which is about 84 ppm higher than when people first started handing out this delusional bullshit about hydrogen in the 1970's.

It was bullshit then; it's bullshit now. It wastes energy. The laws of thermodynamics will not change no matter how many cartoon videos are posted here.

A Giant Climate Lie: When they're selling hydrogen, what they're really selling is fossil fuels.

No sense of decency.

It's clear that the indecent cannot be embarrassed into decency, be they Trumper or be they fossil fuel greenwashers.
