(143,549 posts)1. Years ago, I used to have a 1/2 barrel water garden
and grew some in there. They are good for water plant interest and the nutrient cycling of the water when you have fish (I had a pair of huge comets in it). But they are also invasives and like that video, will completely cover ponds and lakes, essentially blocking out the light to anything under water where they are growing.
