Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and severe, super-charged by human-caused warming. According to Michael Mann, presidential distinguished professor at the University of Pennsylvania, the upcoming presidential race will not only determine the fate of democracy but also the future of our planet.
With Project 2025, the conservative playbook for the next Republican president, looming over the race, another Trump presidency would guarantee the dismantling of federal climate and environmental policies. Polluters have a wishlist, warns Mann. They didnt accomplish everything they hoped to in Trumps first term, he says. (40,138 posts)Billionaires get richer when your weather is horrible. They dont care if you are incredibly hot, or your home floods or you cant afford your electric bill in the summer. They dont care. And REPUBLICANS will do whatever they can to comfort billionaires. Not you. REPUBLICANS do not care about you, or your constitution. They vote how they are told and they dont listen to me and you.
Im woke so Ill ask this question. If you have billions of dollars now, how much is enough next year and the year after. How many people must die of heatstroke so you can buy a bigger yacht? Why do you masquerade as a Christian?

(2,219 posts)President Bidens second term will likely come with a continued divided Congress; its Congress that must take action on climate change, not the executive.
And even if Congress takes action, a Supreme Court dominated by blind partisan conservative ideologues would strike down or gut any climate legislation.
2016 was the last chance.
