Lithium battery ignites fire at Upstate manufacturing plant

SENECA, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Seneca Fire Department said two people were evaluated by medical professionals after a “stubborn fire” broke out at a manufacturing plant on Thursday morning.

Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to an alarm at BorgWarner on Wells Highway shortly after 8 a.m.

Officials said a lithium battery caught fire on one of the lines. Fire crews and BorgWarner employees worked together to get the battery removed and placed in a containment box.

It took hours to get the smoke removed from throughout the facility.

Firefighters said an employee was treated for smoke inhalation and a firefighter was transported to a medical facility to be checked...more

Ahmedabad: A blast in an e-scooter battery left everything inside a home in ashes in the Vasna area early on Wednesday. The fire erupted while the battery was charging, requiring a swift rescue operation by the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) team to save three residents.



According to AFES officers, the incident occurred in the third-floor flat of Siddha-Shila Apartments around 4.30am.

“The scooter’s owner, a young man of about 20 years old, was asleep near the charging battery in the drawing room when a sudden explosion, triggered by a spark, set the house ablaze,” said a resident of the apartment building, seeking anonymity.

The resident said that the man’s mother and sister were sleeping in another room and were trapped by the fire and the smoke. “They were asleep in the bedroom where the window was open. This saved their lives as the air flowing in through the window, dispersed the smoke.” more
