It looks like the Mauna Loa CO2 Observatory's Instrument is back up, with the second highest measurement ever seen.
As I noted yesterday, the data for the entire last week at the Observatory was lost because of poor precision causing the data to be rejected.
It turns out there is an analytical reason we will not get a weekly data point at Mauna Loa for the 2nd time in half...
This is only the second time since 1975 that a weekly average was not available, the first being during the Orange Pedophile's government shutdown earlier this year.
The instrument that records the data is known as a "cavity ring down spectrometer" which measures the decay of a resonant absorption between a set of highly reflective mirrors generated by a pulse of laser light at a wavelength characteristic of the gas. The use of mirrors transforms the pathlength of a benchtop instrument to several kilometers.
Well, it appears that whatever the case may be, the instrument is functioning again. From this morning's data:

Recent Daily Average Mauna Loa CO2
433.47 ppm is the second highest daily reading ever recorded, after 433.95 recorded on May 1, 2026.
All of us who follow this data can breathe a small sigh of relief, I guess. I believe the existence of the Observatory is threatened as is all American science as our country commits suicide at the behest of an ignorant, senile, orange pedophile.
I now return this forum to people prattling on about an imaginary "energy transition" that makes the Easter Bunny and Bigfoot look rather like real corporeal beings, although they are no such thing.
Have a nice day.
